DIGITAL SETS

Digital sets allow for the expansion of actual sets or the fabrication of entirely computer-generated locations. Stephen began building digital sets in Lightwave 3D during highschool to fill out the backgrounds of bluescreen footage he shot in his basement. The sets here are both for the Decktechs project; the first being a cockpit of a spaceship, the second being an aging control deck/flight operations set.

These sets both draw heavily from real-life reference, often using image-based modeling to fabricate components of the sets such as the control panels. They were both modeled in Lightwave, the cockpit being converted to Maya to render in Mental Ray with accompanying dynamics elements while the control room stayed in Lightwave.
